Birithivy Y A Simple Favor - 8/10. I always glanced over watching this over the years, but finally, got time to watch it. And with all the news surrounding the sequel, and the supposed feud between the stars, it made me want to watch this more ironically. Think of this as a messier version of Gone Girl, but with some cheesy noir flavour. This happened to be Paul Feig’s first deviation from straight forward comedy, and he does a good job here. You can tell he had fun making this movie. And as for the stars, with the context that I have now, watching this I can tell where exactly they probably started hating each other. This surprisingly is probably Lively’s best role she’s done, and she’s kinda a shadow of a character here (she’s not in it as much as I thought). Anna Kendrick is great as ever, and though this might be bias of me to say as a fan of hers: she’s the heart of this movie in my opinion. What works for this movie is that it just seems to playfully work with the material it has at hand. Its not trying to be a serious and straightforward twisted look at its respective story, but rather, has a darkishly light touch through its twists. Though I feel it does falter when Blake’s character’s reveal is that she’s a twin, its still a fun watch and one that will burn through time with ease. Good movie and a fun one at that! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/16/25 Full Review Karina S Blake doesn’t know how to act but Anna did well. Movie still was awful though, skip it, not worth the time. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review Christine H The chemistry between Kendrick, Lively and Golding was diabolically good. The cameo from Cardellini shows her range and precision with comedic timing. This movie is just flat out fun. The multifaceted characters weave intrigue, suspense, and thrills, with laugh out loud moments of humour. A special mention to Satine, and especially Ho, who brought so much charisma and realism to their roles. I'm so interested to find more of director Paul Feig's work after seeing this, and can't wait to see, "Another Simple Favour". Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/25 Full Review Anna W This is bad. It's just a through and through bad film, which breaks my heart because Paul Feig directed Bridesmaids, which is a masterpiece. This film is so horribly predictable. When they revealed the "twist" the entire room groaned because it was just a cheap move. People parody films with this twist because it's been done a million times (and way better too, if I'm being honest). I cannot believe they are making another one. The acting is horrendous. I'm so confused why this was successful in any respect. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/25 Full Review J. Ray S 100% recommended, especially given that it's a true story. This movie is one of those raw, real, sexy tales in which friendship, family, sex and death get tossed into a blender and turned into a potent shake of blood, tears, and other bodily fluids. It's a story that could not have been told without being played out on a stage of modern social media. I hope the kids featured aren't too f'd up by this being the story of their childhoods. But damn, what a great movie! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Dennis D Paul Feig is not doing himself a favor. He and blake love woody Allen which says a LOT and D Actress Blake Lively's is not a good actor. She is literally mid and looks too OLD for the parts she plays. Doesn't she have like a litter of children? Shouldn't she be spending time with them instead of chasing roles? Doesn't she and her weirdo husband with a different last name let woody Allen watch their kids? Since they respect him so much? SMH ew....
